Back to Blackboard Day!

Congratulations and many thanks to all who supported our  ‘Back to Blackboard Day’. This is one in a series of events to mark the centenary of our school. The period costumes were amazing, thank you to all the parents for their support with getting the children ready. The staff got into the spirit too and transformed their classrooms with no computers, blackboards, finger nail checks, Reading, Writing and Arithmetic drills.

Many thanks to Tesco for their refreshments for the children and Maxwell Freight for the lorry for our parade. Thank you to Paul McErlane for the wonderful photographs he took. Thank you to all the parents, local businesses and the wider community who lined the route as the Maxwell Titanic lorry surrounded by the entire school in period clothing marched up the Main Street to the beat of the music. The community atmosphere was fantastic and the children, staff and parents had a wonderful time.

Mr Traynor said, “It was wonderful to see such a great turnout for our parade today, the children and staff had certainly entered into the spirit of the day and the event was indeed a fitting tribute to mark the hundredth anniversary of outstanding education provided by St. Joseph’s Primary school and Nursery Unit past and present.”
