Thank you to all our Year 3 children who came to school for their special book read at bedtime. Mrs Lawlor, Mrs Sheppard and Miss Rafferty read each of the classes a few bedtime stories as the children were all dressed in their pyjamas, with many hugging their favourite teddy. All children had the opportunity to enjoy hot chocolate and some very yummy biscuits.
Our Year 3 children were also presented with their FRED (Fathers Reading Every Day) Certificates. Thank you to Mrs Cunningham for organising this pilot project – the feedback on its impact has been very positive. Remember to keep up the great reading boys and girls – this is only the beginning!
Our Poetry in Motion Project is to conclude with a celebration day in the Ulster Hall in Belfast. In preparation for the celebration day of our Poetry in Motion Project a number of our Year 5 children were selected by the Community Arts Partnership to make an audio recording of their poem, which may be used as part of the audio visual presentations on the day or later on their website.
Mrs Matthew’s Year 5 class look forward to the big celebratory day on Tuesday 12th March. Watch this space for lots of photographs.
Our 'Pupil Council’ and ‘Eco-Team’ recently enjoyed a fantastic visit and tour of ‘Stormont Buildings’, Belfast and its outside environment. This was a great opportunity for the children to explore our local parliament and exterior grounds. The children were be able to link their own school experiences of elections, meetings and environmental awareness with that of our local government.
Congratulations to our Digital Leaders on their fabulous Online Safety Assembly. A great video presentation, drama and song were used to deliver the message of Safer Internet Day ‘Together for a Better Internet’.
