  • Year 6KL Shared Education

    Thu 01 May 2025

Year 6KL recently had the pleasure of meeting their shared education partners from Crumlin Integrated Primary School, Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach and Crumlin Integrated College. The week kicked off with an engaging icebreaker activity session, allowing pupils to get to know each other and build new friendships.

Later in the week, the excitement continued with a morning of sports at Crumlin United. Pupils enjoyed taster sessions in Gaelic football, soccer, and rugby, experiencing the thrill of each sport and learning new skills. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

An enjoyable and fun time was had by all, and Year 6KL look forward to the next activity with their shared education partners.

  • New Outdoor Classroom in Forest School Area

    Wed 30 Apr 2025

We are thrilled to announce the delivery of our new outdoor classroom, a fantastic addition to our school's learning environment. This outdoor space will provide our pupils with the opportunity to engage in hands-on, experiential learning in the great outdoors.

To celebrate this exciting development, our Year 5 children came together on a sunny afternoon to complete a spring clean of our forest school area, preparing the space for future educational activities.

The sunshine and fresh air added to the positive atmosphere, making the afternoon enjoyable and productive for everyone involved.  Our new outdoor classroom and refreshed forest school area are now ready to be used for a variety of learning experiences, from science lessons to creative arts projects. We look forward to seeing our pupils thrive in these inspiring environments.  🌳🌞

  • Blessing of our Willow Tree

    Wed 30 Apr 2025

Today our Year 4 children attended morning mass in Mater Dei.  During morning mass Canon Colm blessed the willow tree which will be planted during the service to mark the rededication of the statue of St Joseph within our school grounds.  This blessing at morning mass represents the close link we have between our school and parish communities.

Our rededication service will also provide us with an opportunity to mark 110 years of primary education and 25 years of nursery provision at our school.  We look forward to this special service which will take place on Thursday 1st May, the Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker.

  • Year 4 -7 Beginning of Term 3 Assembly

    Wed 30 Apr 2025

Today we gathered together for our Year 4-7 assembly.  Mr. McKenna's Year 5 class took center stage to deliver an engaging and insightful assembly on the importance of 'teamwork'. Through a series of recitals, drama sketches, dance and interactive activities, the pupils highlighted how working together can achieve greater success and foster a supportive school community. Their message was clear: "Together Everyone Achieves More." As we begin Term 3 when so many of our activities focus on working together as a team the assembly not only showcased the pupils' creativity and collaboration but also left a lasting impression on all present.  Well done girls and boys!

  • Easter Trócaire Charity Campaign

    Thu 17 Apr 2025

'It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.'  Mother Teresa

St. Joseph's launched our Trócaire Charity Campaign 2025 at the beginning of Lent.

Copper Coin Challenge:  For 4 weeks during Lent all classes were collecting 1p and 2p coins.  We have been amazed at the response with a fantastic £437 being raised in coppers in such a short period of time.  Congratulations to all the classes on such a sterling effort - the saying 'Every Penny Counts' certainly does ring true on this occasion.   A special congratulations to Ms. Blease's Year 3 class who were the highest collectors in Years 1-3 and Mrs. Matthews' class who were the highest collectors in Years 4-7.  After Easter both classes will be awarded with a party supplied by Mr. Traynor.  Many thanks to

Holy Week Charity Campaign:  During Holy Week our charity campaign continued.  There were lots of activities organised to include Bring a Toy Day, Nursery Easter Bonnet Parade  and Name the Duck - this year it was called 'Fluffy'.  Nine children guessed correctly and after a raffle it was won by Conor Smith P4 with all children receiving an Easter Egg for great guessing.

Year 7 Entrepreneurial Afternoon:  Our Year 7 pupils were amazing and organised a host of stalls making, decorating and selling a variety of products.  They were just amazing - fabulous creativity and entrepreneurial skills on display.  Mr. Traynor was delighted to have received the Easter Egg prize for guessing the correct number of sweets in the jar - there were 285 and he guessed 284, just 1 off.  The total raised so far from this very successful afternoon; a fabulous £494.40.  Dragon's Den better watch out!

We look forward to announcing our final total when we return to school after the Easter Break.  Well done to all and thank you for your continued generosity and support.  It means so much!
