A Book is a Dream You Hold in Your Hand!
Our Girls' Soccer Team were in great form this week and embraced their four games during this round of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Girls’ Soccer League with enthusiasm, sportsmanship and skill! This resulted in four great wins for the girls from St. Joseph's and not one goal conceded. Roll on the next round - well done girls!
We were delighted to have been asked by the Centre for Community Archaeology to act as a School Hub to host the Community Archaeology Programme Northern Ireland (CAPNI). The CAPNI School Hub introduces children to the work of archaeologists and the importance of our archaeological heritage, using cross-curricular skills and practical teamwork.
Indeed engaging children with archaeology can help them explore how we piece together the story of the distant past and gain a better understanding of people’s lives through the material remains they have left behind. By engaging pupils in meaningful research, archaeological learning can provide real and cohesive links across a range of curricular areas.
Our pupils In Years 5 & 6 had a wonderful opportunity to partake in a variety of archaeology workshop as part of this programme. We would like to thank CAPNI for providing this unique, practical and engaging experience for our children - such fun had and many wonderful learning opportunities to support learning across the curriculum!
Well done to the boys who played with great skill and speed in a sun soaked Allen Park. A great team effort from all today!
As part of our Health and Wellbeing Programme Primary 3 have been participating in their first full 'Sound Bath' experience .
A sound bath is a full-body meditative experience where you lie down and listen to resonant sounds. This is very good for helping children to relax and let go of any worries or anxieties . It is also very enjoyable getting to lie down, wrapped up snug in a blanket and having some quiet time to yourself!
Congratulations to our Year 7 girls who represented our school, their families, club and county during the Antrim v Sligo NFL Cumann na mBunscoil Half Time Games in Corrigan Park. They displayed great skill, determination and teamwork which made for an excellent game of football. Many thanks to Cumann na mBunscoil Antrim, the coaches, officials, staff and parents who enabled our pupils to take part in this wonderful experience!
Today we celebarted the feast day of our patron saint, St Patrick - there was an amazing sea of green throughout the school and much fun had!
Happy St Patrick's Day from Everyone at St Joseph's!
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit!
A morning of learning and fun with our shared education partners!
This week we saw 42 children from Year 5 - Year 7 think critically, evaluate alternatives, and use logic to assist in their decision-making during the heats of our school Chess Tournament. We are now down to the last 12 competitors who will compete in the finals round to be held next week. Who will lift the winner's trophy - we will keep you updated.
Well done to all who have taken part so far and good luck to those who have made it to the finals round!
