Congratulations to our Indoor 5-a-side Gaelic Football squad who returned home champions. The boys played a hard fought semi-final beating Our Lady, Queen of Peace in Glenravel by one point and an equally challenging final against St. Comgalls in Antrim. The final went to extra time and the St. Joseph's boys were crowned as champions after they scored and defended superbly to secure their win.
  • Fairtrade Workshop

    Thu 24 Nov 2016

Our Year 6 children took part in a variety of Fairtrade workshops this week.  Year 6 children explored the difference between a 'need' and a 'want' and worked in pairs to discuss these ideas. Classes also had the opportunity to learn more about what Fairtrade means and how Fairtrade works in developing countries.  Children worked in groups to complete an important budgeting activity involving the cost of a jar of coffee! A big thank-you to David from Christan Aid who made the whole experience fun and enjoyable for our children.

  • National Parliament Week

    Mon 21 Nov 2016

To mark  ‘National Parliament Week’ in our school, our Year 7 children had a visit from a local councillor.  Mr Thomas Burns, a former MLA, had a ‘Question and Answer session’ with our Year 7 children in our Minor hall.  Mr Burns talked to the children about his role as a local councillor and about his experiences as an MLA at Stormont.  Our Year 7 children asked questions like:, What is it like to be a Councillor?, Have you ever met the Prime Minister? What issues are you working on now in and around Crumlin? and What are your thoughts on the USA election! Mr Burns helped to explain words like constituency, objective, assembly and manifesto.  Thank you so much to Mr Burns for helping our Year 7 children learn more about local politics!
