  • Science Blast at the ICC Waterfront Belfast

    Tue 05 May 2026

Our Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to showcase their class investigation projects at ESB’s Science Blast in the ICC Waterfront, Belfast.

    The class projects were:

    Can water Walk?

    The Properties of Water

Both Year 5 classes presented their work with great confidence using appropriate scientific vocabulary and received lots of excellent feedback from the judging panels.  They were very impressed by the children’s knowledge and skills and how articulate they were in presenting their findings from their chosen areas of study.

Pupils also had the opportunity to view projects from other schools attending, meet Mark the Science Guy and enjoy some amazing science related workshops.

Great learning and fun was had by all.  Well done Year 5 on being such wonderful science ambassadors for St. Joseph's!

  • Year 1 Hungry Caterpillar's Picnic

    Fri 01 May 2026

Our Primary One children were treated to a fabulous picnic with so many new foods to try at their caterpillar's picnic. The boys and girls had a wonderful time nibbling at all the tasty pieces of colourful food on the table. What a wonderful way to spend a Monday morning as we begin our final week of Term 2.

“One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and – pop! – out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.”

  • Feast Day of St. Joseph

    Fri 01 May 2026

Today, 1st May, we marked the Feast Day of St Joseph, Patron Saint of our school. To celebrate this special occasion, Canon Colm, together with our Faith Group, led a prayer service in our St Joseph’s Garden.

During the service, we asked St Joseph to watch over our school community and our families, guiding us with his example of faith, care and service to others.

As part of the celebrations, Canon Colm also blessed our new school signs, which reflect our shared vision and values, making the feast day more special as we celebrated our faith and the values that guide us each day

  • April Golden Assemblies

    Fri 01 May 2026

Congratulations to the girls and boys in Mrs. O’Doherty’s Year 3 class and Mrs. Downey’s Year 6 class, who led our April Golden Assemblies.

Mrs. O’Doherty’s Year 3 children did an excellent job delivering an assembly on the importance of looking after our world, building on their learning around Earth Day. Likewise, Mrs. Downey’s Year 6 children shared an equally powerful message on the theme of ‘Mary, Our Mother’, which is particularly fitting as we enter the month of May, a special month dedicated to Our Lady.

Our assemblies also included the presentation of our Pupil of the Month certificates, as we gave thanks for the many wonderful talents and gifts of our children. We had a number of fantastic extra-curricular achievements to celebrate across the school this month.

We finished the assemblies by wishing all the boys and girls who had recently celebrated a birthday a very happy one. Let’s hope the sunshine continues as we move into the month of May
