We would like to wish our school community a very Happy and Egg-citing Easter Break.
From all at St Joseph's!
Many thanks to our Year 6 children on their Easter assembly. They presented 'The Stations of the Cross' to the children in Years 3-7 and to parents, family and friends. Thanks also to the Year 6 staff who guided the children in what was a very poignant and reflective ceremony for all who attended.
We launched our Hope Mission Zambia Charity Campaign at the beginning of Lent with our Copper Coin Challenge. Throughout Lent all classes were collecting 1p and 2p coins. We have been amazed at the response with a fantanstic £672 being raised in coppers in only five weeks. Congratulations to all the classes on such a sterling effort. A special congratulations to Mrs Haughian/Ms O'Brien's Year 4 class and Mrs Matthew's Year 5 classes who were the highest collectors in the school and will be awarded with a class party supplied by Mr Traynor.
During Holy Week our charity campaign continued. There were lots of activities organised to include Colouring Competitions, Bring a Toy Day, Nursery Easter Bonnet Parade, an Easter Bun Sale and Name the Duck - this year it was called 'Puddles' and was won by Dillon. Our Year 7 pupils were amazing and organised a host of stalls making, decorating and selling a variety of products. They were just amazing - fabulous creativity and entrepreneurial skills on display. Total raised, a fabulous £705!
We look forward to announcing our final total when we return to school after the Easter Break. Well done to all and thank you for your continued genorisity and support!
Many thanks to Sinead from the Art and Design Factory for enabling our Year 3-7 children join her online for an Easter Art Lesson. The pupils had a wonderful time using paint and oil pastels to create lovely Easter Basket scenes. We were truly impressed with the excellent reults from all involved. Thanks again Sinead @ the Art and Design Factory.
Such eggsitement in our Nursery Unit today with some 'cracking' Easter bonnets on parade. Congratulations to all who took part. The Easter Bunny hid some very special treats along the way. However, all the boys and girls searched very hard and managed to find where he had hidden all those lovely chocolate eggs!
Thank you so much to the parents who came along and took time to create the wonderful pieces of art the children wore.
Many congratulations to all the boys and girls who received Subject, Accelerated Reading, Pupil of the Month, Toe-By-Toe and Principal Awards at our Easter Awards Assemblies. You are all superstars - Well done everyone!
Many thanks to Coragh in Year 4 for the presentation to Mr Traynor of a beautiful homemade Easter Wreath to be hung at the front entrance of the school.
Congratulations to all those boys and girls who took part in our Music Recital in the school assembly hall. We enjoyed a range of performances from our School Orchestra, Guitarists and individual soloists. A wide range of musical instruments were represented to include the violin, cello, trumpet, obeo, flute, guitar and piano.
What amazing talent we had on show - we all all very proud of the girls and boys today. Many thanks to Mrs McDonnell (Music Co-ordinator) and Mr Heron (EA Music Tutor) for all their hard work with the boys and girls throughout the year.
Well done to all involved!
Year 7SMcC spent a fun packed day in The Theatre, Mossley Mill learning about Transport and Logistics Industry. During the day pupils met with a variety of people from the industry, learning about career paths and taking part in interactive workshops such as the driving simulator and international journey planning.
Throughout the day pupils got an opportunity to develop an understanding of the variety of careers and different routes to employment in the industry and had the opportunity to quiz experts from the industry. We would like to thank the Labour Market Partnership and Council in partnership with Young Enterprise NI for the invitation to participate - the pupils had a great day!
