Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Fr. Colm visited our school today to bless our Advent Wreath. He spoke to the children about the symbolism surrounding the wreath and that Advent was a time of preparation and waiting.
Fr. Colm also presented our Awards as this was a Golden Assembly. Many congratulations to all those children who received certificates, medals or trophies today
On Wednesday 20th November pupils from our Faith Council travelled to W5 in the Odyssey with Mr McGrattan and Mrs Saunders to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
This convention in 1989 marked the beginning of a new era for children’s rights.
Now, 30 years later, the voice of the child informs all of our decision-making in school... and rightly so!
All of the pupils thoroughly enjoyed this celebration in W5 and went back home to their families feeling empowered and excited about what the future holds for them.
Sincere thanks to the Ken and the NICCY team for organizing such a momentous and memorable day.
Back in School …….
Back in school we celebrated the day with our very own balloon release which also marked the launch of our Rights Respecting School Reaccreditation Campaign. We also created a lovely display of work where children from the Nursery to Year 7 looked at different rights of the child and created some fabulous work! Many thanks to John Duff from Coco Ice Creams who must have broken a record as he delivered an Ice cream treat to the boys and girls from our school. It was all in a good cause for Children in Need.
Many thanks to Mrs Campbell's Year 6 class for their wonderful Anti-Bullying assembly. The children performed drama, created PowerPoints, sang and delivered a very important message that ‘Change Starts with Us’. Well done Boys and Girls!
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who made a shoebox for our recent 'Road of Hope' Appeal. In total we collected 179 shoeboxes. Fiona was just bowled over by your generosity.
Our Pupil Council had a fantastic day visiting Stormont Estate. Our children toured the building including visiting two chamber rooms. They also took part in an interactive presentation.
Well done Our Pupil Council!
