Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Many thanks to Joe from The Gathering Drum Workshop who entertained all of the children in the nursery unit today with a one hour session of music, rhythm and rhyme. The children enjoyed playing the African drums, listening to the guitar and learning new chants and songs. Thanks Joe - we look forward to next week's session.
Nature Rangers Club continued on a Friday afternoon. Lot's of great fun to be had and very creative thinking from the girls and boys in attendance.
The school orchestra members attended the Ulster Orchestra Concert in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast. It was a fabulous morning of musical entertainment and as usual the children represented the school so well. They were treated to a range of beautiful musical pieces. Thank you to the Ulster Orchestra for giving us such a memorable day out!
Congratulations to our Digital Leaders who today completed the second part of their Dream Space Ambassadors Programme on the use of Micro:bits. Today our budding technologists created dice and used conditional statements to code.
Next Wednesday 27th November the Digital Leaders will be putting their knowledge to the test when they lead some staff development training with our teaching staff on the use of Micro:bits across the primary curriculum. The staff are really looking forward to this unique professional development opportunity!

Congratulations to our Nursery Unit who achieved a Grade 5 following an inspection of the premises by Environmental Health. There were no issues noted in any of the compliance areas of hygiene, structure or confidence in management. Well done all!
Congratulations to Chloe (Year 1) and Amelia (Year 7) whose Christmas Card Designs have been chosen as the official cards to be sent from St Joseph's this year.
Well done Chloe and Amelia - your cards will be dropping through letterboxes this Christmas bringing good wishes and blessings from all at St. Joseph's!
Many thanks to Mr John Duff from Coco Ice Creams who must have broken a record as he delivered an Ice Cream treat to all the boys and girls (and staff) in our nursery unit and school today.
It was all for a very good cause with a donation being made from St Joseph's to 'Children in Need' which is celebrated today Friday 15th November!
Today the Year 7 and Year 8 students from our Shared Education Partnership came together for an afternoon of fun. The children engaged in a variety of ice-breaker games such as Wink Murder, Spot the Difference, Would you Rather?, Place the Baton and Guess Who? to name but a few!
This was the start of our Year 7 and 8 'Transition Project' where the girls and boys will be visiting all the schools to get a taster session on some of the subjects they may study next year, and to ask questions to the Year 8’s about life in their school. We have made lots of new friends that we are looking forward to joining up with again to get to know them better.
We were also delighted to see that that our work from last year on Ulster Scots featured in the latest edition of 'Sharing Works' which showcases and promoted Shared Education partnerships and projects.
Crumlin Model Railway Club meet every Tuesday night in our school and have been working on the St. Joseph's Railway Station Model for some time. Today the finished model was presented to school by members of the club.
It is indeed a fabulous piece of artwork. The model will be on display in the foyer of our school for the next few weeks and will then be moved to our Rainbow Room. We have no doubt that many children will benefit from this very generous gift for many years to come.
On behalf of our school community we would like to extend a massive thank you to all members of the club for their time, dedication and commitment to this project - what a lovely way to mark World Kindness Day! Thank you.
