Each term, our principal Mr. Traynor proudly celebrates the outstanding work of pupils across the school through a special whole-school display. From Nursery to Year 7, every class is represented with a carefully chosen piece of work that highlights effort, creativity, and achievement across a wide range of subjects and skills. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the fantastic start we’ve made to the school year and to recognise the talents and hard work of our pupils.
The display not only celebrates individual and class success, but also strengthens our sense of community, pride, and shared achievement across the school. It’s a powerful way to highlight pupil voice and showcase the rich learning taking place each term.

There was a sea of red across St Joseph’s today as our children and staff showed their support for St James’ Aldergrove ahead of tomorrow’s big game!
We were delighted to get behind a club that gives so much to our school and wider community.
Good luck tomorrow from everyone at St Joseph’s! π΄βͺοΈ
Congratulations to our Nursery Unit who achieved a Grade 5 following an inspection of the premises by Environmental Health.
Well done all!
This Friday, 16th October, we will be holding a ‘Wear It Red Day’ in school to show our support for St James’ Aldergrove who are playing in the Antrim Intermediate Football Championship final on Saturday 17th October.
It will be a non-uniform day, and children are invited to come to school wearing something red—this could be an item of clothing or a simple red accessory.
We are delighted to support St. James’ Aldergrove, who work so closely with our school throughout the year. The Club provides invaluable help in developing children’s fundamental movement and games skills, along with offering coaching, afterschool clubs and use of their facilities free of charge for all pupils.
GOOD LUCK TO THIS SATURDAY!
FROM ALL AT ST. JOSEPH’S!
Our Eco Council did a fantastic job organising this year’s Hallowe’en Costume Swap and we were delighted with the response. This annual eco initiative gives pre-loved costumes a second life, helping families save money while reducing waste and keeping items out of landfill. A win-win for both the environment and the pocket!
It was wonderful to see so many smiles and creative costumes. The money raised will go towards enhancing our outdoor science classroom with new plants—bringing even more life and learning to our outdoor space.
There are still some costumes available for anyone who’d like to have a look—just pop in!
A huge thank you to everyone who donated and bought a costume.
Your support made this project another fang-tastic success!

Dress-Up for Digits Day
Today we launched Maths Week Ireland by hosting a 'Dress-Up for Digits' Day, a non-uniform day with a Maths twist. Pupils have been invited to come dressed with a number, symbol on shape on their jumper, hats, socks etc or wear their most colourful, patterned or 'mathsy' outfit.
Lots of Mathematical learning and fun to look forward to this week in St. Joseph's!
Today, our Term 1 Fire Drill was successfully carried out as part of our ongoing commitment to pupil safety during Child Protection and Safeguarding Week. The drill provided an important opportunity for pupils and staff to practise safe and efficient evacuation procedures, ensuring everyone is familiar with the steps to take in the event of an emergency.
We were proud of how calmly and responsibly our pupils responded, demonstrating their understanding of the importance of keeping themselves and others safe. Staff supported pupils throughout, and the entire process was completed swiftly and effectively.
This drill forms part of a wider programme of activities this week focused on promoting safety, wellbeing, and awareness across our school community.
Our Year 4-7 pupils gathered for assembly today for a wonderful celebration of achievement, respect and community spirit.
We were delighted and privileged to welcome back Katie Rose, a former St Joseph's pupil, who was a member of the Antrim Camogie team that won the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Final in August at Croke Park!. She proudly brought the winning trophy to assembly and answered a range of thoughtful questions from pupils about her sporting journey and success.
It was inspiring for our children to hear first-hand about the dedication, perseverance and teamwork required to perform at such a high level. Her visit provided a powerful reminder that hard work, determination and commitment can help us achieve our goals. We congratulate her and all of her teammates on their fantastic achievement.
The assembly also marked the first collection of Pebble Points from our Year 4-7 classes, earned through excellent examples of Respect, our character trait focus for September and October. We celebrated birthdays, recognised achievements outside school and acknowledged the many successes of our pupils.
As part of our ongoing focus on safeguarding, Mr. Traynor spoke to the children about the importance of road safety, reminding everyone how small actions can help keep themselves and others safe both in and out of school.
As we prepare to celebrate Maths Week Ireland 2026 from 10th-18th October some of our Year 6 pupils visited classes throughout the school to deliver a presentation, encouraging everyone to get involved in the fun and wonder of mathematics.
To kick off the celebrations, we will be holding a 'Dress Up for Digits!' non-uniform day on Monday. Pupils are invited to come to school wearing a number, shape, mathematical symbol, or any maths-themed outfit, in return for a £1 donation towards new maths resources.
A range of exciting activities has been planned across the school, including a Maths Trail for Year 1, Bee-Bot number challenges in Year 2, code-breaking problem solving in Year 3, teamwork challenges for Year 4, an outdoor Maths Hunt for Year 5, Izak9 investigations for Year 6, and mathematician research projects in Year 7.
We look forward to a fantastic week of fun, challenge and discovery as we celebrate and promote a love of mathematics across our school community! πβπ’β¨
