Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Julie from the Dogs Trust in Ballymena came and visited all the classes in Primary 4 today.
The children had a very informative visit. Julie talked about when it is best to leave dogs alone and when we should give them space, she talked about how we show dogs that we love and care for them and also how we model safe and positive behaviours around dogs. We chatted and talked through different scenarios and learned what to do if a dog runs towards you and what to do when you meet a dog that you don’t know. We learned so much about how we can help dogs which is really really important.
We all had a great day and got some puppy cuddles at the end!
Mrs Downey's Year 5 class are loving their visits from our tiny teacher Eoghan through our Roots of Empathy programme. They have watched him reach many milestones and cannot believe how many things he can now do compared to when we started having visits with him in October. He really is the favourite event in the class timetable and the children are learning so much about empathy through these lessons.
Congratulations to our amazing Year 4 pupils who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 20th May in Mater Dei Church. They all looked fantastic and played their parts so well.
Thanks to our school choir and staff for their lovely music on the day, to Canon Colm for a beautiful service, to all our staff and the Friends of St. Joseph's who helped with refreshments in the school hall after the service and to our Year 4 team for all their hard work in preparing the children. A very special and memorable day for our wonderful Year 4 girls and boys, their familiies and our school community!
We are delighted to introduce our brand new sports kit. Many thanks to the Friends of St Joseph's and Marty from Finnegan Fitness for their sponsorship. We know our children will wear this kit with pride, great sportmanship and give of their best at all times!
Our Primary One children were treated to a fabulous picnic with so many new foods to try at their caterpillar picnic. The boys and girls had a wonderful time nibbling at all the tasty pieces of colourful food on the table. A great time was had by all and the weather was kind throughout!
Our Year 7 pupils who will be travelling to Demark in June as part of our Erasmus Project have just completed their pupil profiles. These will be exchanged with the host families so that everyone can make contact and connect before we arrive on Sunday 4th June. Many thanks to Shane and Catherine from Oaktree who donated the juice and refreshments for the children.

The pupils (and adults) arrived back to school tired but all had a great day with lots of wonderful memories made! A good night's sleep should be guaranteed for all!
