Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Congratulations to all our Pre-School Nursery children who graduated today at St Joseph's. The graduation commenced with a video show highlighting all the wonderful experiences and learning opportunities the boys and girls have enjoyed this year. It certainly showed how well they have all developed and grown in confidence. They all looked fabulous in their costumes and graduation gowns and spoke and sang out so well. Indeed there were some great dance moves too. The beautiful sun shone on the celebrations afterwards and the children, their families and our amazing nursery staff enjoyed some lovely post-graduation celebratory treats.
Congratulations boys and girls - you are all well ready for Primary1!
Today we celebrated with all those boys and girls who have become Accelerated Reading Word Millionaires - some double and indeed triple Word Millionaires - throughout the school year. Pupils had an opportunity to enjoy a pizza party and some celebratory treats, in addition to receiving their Word Millionaire T-Shirts and Amazon vouchers for those multi-millionaire word readers.
Well done to these girls and boys on a fabulous achievement and to all those in Primary 5-7 who have made such an amazing effort engaging with the programme this year. Also thank you to Mrs. Matthews (Literacy Co-ordinator) and Mrs Kinnaird for all their work in managing this very successful programme in our school. Remember to keep reading and keep smiling!
Also congratulations to Mrs Campbell's Year 6 class who were the AR winning class for this term!
We entered the Primary Award for Green Education (PAGES) to show our amazing outdoor space and how it has been developed and transformed.
Members of our Eco Committee were delighted to receive our certificate to mark our achievement with the following feedback given:
"We enjoyed finding out about the way in which you have developed your courtyards and grounds for outdoor learning. Your Forest School area looks fantastic too!"
Three of our Year 7 children were selected to play in the annual Antrim- Dublin Friendship Games. Oliver Robb represented our school on the boy's football team and Maia Hamilton and Tulisa Cullen represented us on the girl's football team. The children had an amazing time playing at Corrigan Park, being treated to their very own Antrim kit and receiving beautiful commemorative medals. Well done to these three future stars on their first run out for Antrim.
A massive congratulations to our Year 7 pupils on their outstanding production. Each and every child played their part in the wonderful evenings of music, dance and drama that we experienced. So many proud parents, staff and Board of Governors. Congratulations to one and all - memories created to treasure!
We wish our two past pupils who are currently pupils at St Dominic's Grammar School the very best of luck as they prepare to travel to Africa in July as part of the Hope Mission Zambia Project. They called today to receive their cheque presentation from monies we had raised during our 2023 Lenten Charity Campaign. We look forward to welcoming them back to school in September to hear about all their work and adventures. Good luck girls!
On Sunday 4th June 6 of our Year 7 pupils along with 3 of our teachers headed off to Aalborg in Denamrk as part of our Erasmus Programme. Our second Erasmus project with our partner schools in UK, Spain, Denmark and France, is called ‘Building a Better World’. Erasmus is a British Council Initiative which allows schools throughout Europe to be partnered together to work on different topics and activities.
In Denmark the St Joseph's clan joined other visiting schools from Spain, Bath (England) and France for a 5 day educational visit. All involved had an amazing time and there were a few very tried boys and girls (and teachers too) who returned back to school on Thursday afternoon.
We look forward to our next partnership meeting win Bath in October 2023.
Congratulations to our Boys' Gaelic Football Team winners of the Football Shield at the SW Antrim Large Schools' Football Tournament!
Great fun has was had by all during our recent End of Year Fun Days for Year 1-3. The weather was so kind to us and the ice cream on Friday was a lovely treat which just helped cool everyone down!
