  • 100th Day of 100th Year Celebrations!

    Wed 10 Dec 2014
To mark the 100th day of the 100th year we started our celebrations in style with so many '100' activities happening across the school. The children found 100 ways to make 100, named 100 places they would like to visit, found 100 nouns, completed 100 active activities, drew what they would look like in 100 years to name but a few. The youngest child and oldest child in our school cut a celebratory cake. At 11.30am we contacted Air Traffic Control and our Year 7 children released 100 balloons with their own special messages into the air. We look forward to seeing how far the balloons traveled. We look forward to the celebrations throughout the year to mark 100 years of St. Joseph's serving our local community.

  • ‘Pupil Council go bananas for Fairtrade!’

    Wed 03 Dec 2014

The Pupil Council have been busy visiting classes this week to help raise awareness of ‘Fairtrade’.  The Pupil Council showed classes what the Fairtrade symbol looked like and talked about what it means.  Each class in our school now has their own Fairtrade symbol for their classroom and a fun Fairtrade banana, designed by the Pupil Council, to help us remember about the importance of buying Fairtrade items.  The Pupil Council told classes that every time they buy a product from a shop with the Fairtrade symbol on it, people in poorer countries get a bit more money for their hard work. Our school  wants to help raise awareness of Fairtrade because it helps people and children in poorer countries have a better life.  Thank you to our Pupil Council for their continued hard work and we’ll see them again soon!
