  • SW Antrim Girls' Indoor Gaelic Tournament

    Congratulations to The Girls' Football Team who won 3 out of their 5 matches in the recent SW Antrim Primary Schools Indoor Football Tournament reaching the quarter finals.  Great skill, team work and determination was on display today and the girls did an exceptional job representing their school today.  We are very proud of them!

  • It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

    The decorations are up and Christmas rehearsals are in full swing .... it is indeed beginning to look, feel and sound a lot like Christmas at St Joseph's!

  • Faith Group Work on Developing a Sacred Space

    The Faith Group have been working hard with Mrs Loughran deciding on a suitable area in school for the development of our sacred space.  The group have chosen their area and have discussed their plans as to how it should look and what they would like to have included in it.  Today they met with Mr Traynor to share their plans and ideas for the development of this area which they hope to have completed by the end of this term.  

  • Year 7EA Shared Education

    Miss Agnew's Year 7 class had a fabulous morning in CIPS, joined with GGD for our first Shared Education meet up this year!

     

    The children were entertained by Tura Aratura who was full of energy and fun while sharing his historical knowledge of Irish and African traditions through song, dance and stories.

     

    We extend a massive thank you to Crumlin Residents Collective for their donation of tasty treats for our breaktime.

  • School Orchestra Visit to the Waterfront Hall

    Today, the school orchestra members attended the Ulster Orchestra Concert in the waterfront Hall, Belfast. It was a fabulous morning of musical entertainment and as usual the children represented the school so well.  They were treated to a range of beautiful pieces including James Bond, Harry Potter and Mission Impossible. Thank you to the Ulster Orchestra for giving us such a memorable day out!

  • Nature Rangers Afterschool Club

    Nature Rangers Club continued on a Friday afternoon.  This week the children had great fun outdoors in the nature garden building Big Bear Caves using tarpaulin, pegs and bamboo sticks.  Some very creative thinking was involved and some very cosy bear caves created!

  • Year 4 WWII Workshop

    Today Hannah from The War Memorial Museum in Belfast visited Primary 4. Hannah was great and told us lots of interesting facts about WW2 and The Belfast Blitz. We saw photographs of the home guard and evacuees. We also saw an ariel photograph of the shipyard in Belfast were boats and bombs that were used to fight in the war were built. Hannah brought lots of artefacts too including gasmasks and helmets. At the end we all got the opportunity to wear the helmets, hold the gasmasks and clang the gas rattle. It was amazing - many thanks to Hannah for coming along!

  • Christmas Jumper Eco Shop

    Today our Eco Committe their Christmas Jumper Swap in school. 

    There were lots of jumpers to choose from and indeed a bargain to be hard.  We were amazed at how quickly the jumpers sold with only a few left at the the end of the session. 

    Congratulations to the Eco Committe on some great Christmas recycling and on helping others save a few pounds and we fast approach the festive season!

  • 'Only Smarties Have the Answer' PTA Fundraiser

    We are nearing the end of our 'Only Smarties Have The Answer' Friends of St Joseph's Fundraiser.  To date we have had 122 tubes of Smarties returned and a total of just over £1,200 collected.

     

    Our Pupil Council were today promoting the message to please keep collecting those 20p coins and returning those Smartie tubes on or before next Monday 27th November. They really want us to hit our target of £1.500. 

     

    And rememenber, it's not only Smarties who have the answer ....

  • Macmillian Certificate Presented to St Joseph's

    We were delighted to receive our Macmillian Coffee Morning 2023 Certificate in thanks for our school community's contribution of £882.00.  We are delighted that the money raised will be used to help those within our community who are unwell at this time!

     

    Many thanks to Mrs Downey and Mrs Campbell who organise the event on an annual basis and to all within our school community who supported this very worthy cause.  Thank you!
