Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We've taken another step towards the completion of our Outdoor Sensory Garden - our mural is now complete! Doesn't it look just fabulous. Many thanks to the children who designed the scene and to Niall our artist who made it a reality!
Primary 7 have been working really hard in their individual class bubbles on their Aladdin productions. Here's a sneak preview of how things are going so far - and remember as Aladdin would say 'today's special moments are tomorrow's memories'.
We were delighted to welcome Mrs. Anne Doran from the Down and Connor Catholic Schools' Support Service to present our school with a Certificate of Distinction in the The Spirit of Catholic Education Awards. This was presented in recognition of the outstanding work and commitment to promoting the ethos and values of Catholic education within our school.
Congratulations to our Faith Council for all their efforts in helping to secure this award and to Mrs. Loughran our RE Coordinator for all her work in promoting Catholic education within our school. Many thanks also to Father Colm, our Parish Priest and Mr. Anthony Grant, Chair of our BOG, for attending the presentation ceremony and their ongoing support for the work of our school. In this the year of St Joseph - what a fitting award to receive, an award to be celebrated and enjoyed by all within our school community!
We were delighted to receive 5 new Promethean Interactive Boards. This brings our total to 10, with 5 boards already installed. This Year during Sports Day the Friends of St Joseph's intend to do some fundraising with the view to raising enough money to purchase another 3 boards. This would mean that we would have Promethean Boards in nearly all of our classrooms from Years 1-5. More information on our Sports Day Fundraiser to follow!
Many thanks to Mr. Grant, Chairperson of our Board of Governors, for the very king donation of the following equipment towards the development of our weather station: rain gauge; Kestrel wind speed measure; temperature gauge; air pressure gauge and a rock and Mineral set.
As a keen geographer Mr. Grant was most impressed with the outdoor space and told the children he looked forward to watching the space grow and develop over the coming months.
Thanks again Mr. Grant for the very kind donation!
Congratulations to our Year 4 pupils who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 15th May. You all looked fantastic!
Doesn't our Outdoor Science Classroom look absolutely amazing! What a fabulous group effort from our wonderful pupils, staff and volunteers.
And just wait to you see our Outdoor Sensory Room - more photos and videos to follow, courtesy of our Digital Leaders!
As part of our emotional health and wellbeing programme for this year we have approached Activity NI to deliver training for staff and children in their wonderful Alphabetix programme.
Each letter of the alphabet is connected to a fitness move that can be completed in class as part of a movement break or at the start of a PE lesson.
No equipment is used and in order to create a good work out all you have to do is pick a word and spell it out using the moves demonstrated.
We hope this will be an enjoyable and beneficial programme for all in our school.
