Many thanks to everyone who sponsored our children for the recent Friends of St Joseph's Fun Run. We had a beautiful day and all our boys and girls enjoyed the exercise as they lapped the playground to raise funds for school resources. Many thanks to Shane and Catherine from Oaktree who donated the juice and refreshments for the children.
Sponsorship money can still be returned to school up to and including Monday 15th May. Please remember every penny helps and will be spent directly on resources for all of our children. Thank you - the support as always is much appreciated!
Our Year 7 pupils set off for the Belfast Activity Centre this morning for a fun-packed day. Pupils had the opportunity to take part in a number of activities to include canoeing, mountain biking, orienteering, archery, bush crafts, rock climbing, caving and team games!. The pupils (and adults) arrived back to school tired but all had a great day with lots of wonderful memories made! A good night's sleep should be guaranteed for all!
Many thanks to all the family members who joined our boys and girls in Mrs Loughran's Year 4 class for a beautiful meal in the canteen. Back in April we were delighted to announce that we had received a grant of £9,500 from from ‘Living Places and Spaces Fund’ delivered by The National Lottery Community Fund. . As an accreditated Forest School, this funding was to be spent on developing our school grounds for outdoor learning and further Forest School activities.
Yesterday our Eco-Team had the opportunity to walk around and have a look at the work completed so far. They were very impressed and were delighted to see many of their ideas become a reality. Many thanks to Messy Play who have supplied some of the equipment and to Chris, Matthew and Ryan from External Affairs for all of their hard work over the past week. We look forward to having the work completed and enjoying many fun, informative and interesting activities outdoors.
LET THE SUN SHINE!
Congratulations to our 2 All Stars, Oliver and Jessica from Year 7, who were presented with their beautiful All Star Shirts today, following their superb performances at the recent Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach Inaugral Tournament. In the Antrim v Kilkenny Leinster Senior Hurling Championshipon on Sunday 7th May, two of our Year 7 pupils had the opportunity to travel to Corrigan Park on the day to partake in the Cumann na mBunscol Half Times Games.

The Pupil Council visited Mr Traynor today to discuss the topic of school bugdets. Mr Traynor talked to the children about how a school budget is calculated and there was a general discussion as to what our school budget was used to fund. In conclusion the children could see that our budget as it stands is not enough to provide us with every thing we need to keep our school functioning at its current level. The Pupil Council have decided to promote this message and let others know it is vitally important to support all fundraising initiatives.
They will be visiting the classrooms in the lead up to The Friends of St. Joseph's Fun Run next Friday 12th May to promote this event and to encourage as many as possible to raise much needed school funds for the school,
